Thomas P. Miller & Associates (TPMA) today announced its partnership with The Pennsylvania Workforce Development Board (PA WDB) as their strategic consultant to implement a Digital Literacy Asset Map that identifies existing digital literacy training options, organizations throughout the community that are supporting adult digital literacy training, and where pockets of digital literacy training inequity exist.
Recently, the National Governors Association (NGA) awarded Pennsylvania up to $100,000 to combat the effects of accelerated trends in automation and the pandemic-fueled digital transformation on workers. This is an important milestone for the state on its mission to provide a better direction for future digital literacy programming across the Commonwealth.
In addition to mapping, TPMA will work with the PA WDB to engage and validate data with local stakeholders.
“When James Martini, the Executive Director of the PA WDB, expressed interest in improving digital literacy equity across the Commonwealth, we knew this would be a perfect fit given our broadband and digital equity expertise. Our firm is driven to strengthen digital literacy and digital access systems, build upon current assets to help close the digital divide and work towards the goal of digital equity. Of course, the pandemic undoubtedly shed light on this, and we want to be part of the solution” says Maggie Humphrey, TPMA consultant who will be facilitating stakeholder sessions.
The PA WDB’s mission is to ensure that Pennsylvania’s entire workforce system, covering many programs in multiple departments and agencies, meets employers’ needs for skilled workers and workers’ needs for career and economic advancement. The Board is also responsible for providing policy guidance and direction to policymakers, evaluating performance, and recommending continuous improvements.
