Northeast Alabama: Thomas P. Miller & Associates (TPMA) today announced it has partnered with Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments (TARCOG) as their strategic consultant to provide research and development, data analysis, and comprehensive planning in the update of the region’s five-year (2023 – 2028) Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).
The CEDS update process will run through December 2022 and will include disseminating a survey across TARCOG’s five-county region (DeKalb, Jackson, Limestone, Madison, and Marshall counties), holding county-specific stakeholder meetings, and related data analysis required for developing the final CEDS document for presentation to EDA and regional stakeholders. The CEDS update is an important milestone for the organization on its mission to identify and address common regional issues, opportunities, and challenges of northeast Alabama’s municipalities and counties.
“To thrive in the modern, competitive economic development arena, communities and regions alike must be prepared to overcome the challenges of today’s economic, workforce, and social landscapes. Forward-thinking regions like TARCOG know that the key to future prosperity lies in well-researched analysis and actionable strategies driven by insight from the community” says Reagan Walsh from TPMA, Project Consultant who will be leading research and strategy creation for the project.
TARCOG helps local governments improve the quality of life for the region’s more than 649,000 residents. The Council does this by obtaining funding for local government assistance, coordinating local governments’ responses to regional issues, and providing a wide range of services to the region’s governments and residents.
