The County of Humboldt’s Economic Development Division will partner with consulting firm TPMA, to conduct economic studies and analyses to support the county’s economic development effort known as Project Rebound.

“We are thrilled to continue our work on Project Rebound in partnership with TPMA, ” said Scott Adair, Economic Development Director for the County of Humboldt. “Together, we intend to build upon our current plans and strategies to support emerging and vital target industries across the region, while maintaining our residents’ high quality of life.”

Project Rebound focuses on the creation of new or updated economic development strategies that emphasize economic recovery, self-sufficiency and equity. In order to develop more equitable and effective long-term economic strategies and plans for the community, economic analyses and studies must be conducted.

TPMA will work with county leadership to perform these studies and engage with key partners, interested parties and the public. Through this engagement, new strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in Humboldt County’s target economic industries will be identified and actionable recommendations will be formulated to promote growth and economic prosperity in Humboldt.

“We are excited to work with Humboldt County and regional partners to analyze key industry sectors and help their leadership team formulate actionable strategies to ensure these industries are well positioned to grow, expand and create family-sustaining jobs for the residents of this unbelievable region,” said Brett Wiler, Senior Director of Economic Development and Project Lead for TPMA.

Results of this research will inform the county’s economic development plans, including the Regional and Local Workforce Development Plan and Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).

Business leaders and community members with interest in participating in this process are encouraged to email gohumco@co.humboldt.ca.us. For more information on this initiative, please visit gohumco.com or call 707-445-7745.

About Project Rebound
Project Rebound is intended to position Humboldt County’s economy to thrive in a post-COVID environment. Thanks to successful advocacy efforts from Senator Alex Padilla and Congressman Jared Huffman, Project Rebound was awarded $218,000 in Community Project Funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2022. These funds will partly be used to support the completion of a series of industry-specific studies and analyses to aid community-wide long-term economic planning efforts, including the Local and Regional Workforce Development Plan and CEDS. A CEDS is a plan that helps guide local economic development efforts and serves as a requirement for the county to be eligible for certain federal grants.
